Healing Through Cannabis

Cannabis, the word on the tip of everyone’s tongue right now. If you have experienced the benefits of CBD, you probably know why. But did you know there is a very simple way to make your CBD oil even more effective?

Not all types of CBD are created equal, and I’m going to tell you about a missing link that you want to be sure you are taking advantage of.

I’ll explain why CBD is so beneficial, a little more about the types of CBD available  (it’s important you know the difference), and how you can maximize your CBD experience.

I was skeptical about CBDs. I lived for over 32 years in the marijuana capital of the world, Humboldt County. I was no stranger to people sharing the benefits of cannabis, I had heard it all before. I was happy using my essential oils for my health, to manage my mood and to cultivate overall health and happiness. But, just like when I discovered the essential oils, one day I had an experience that opened my mind to a new idea and my life would never be the same.

My good friend Tina came over to my house. I have known Tina for over 7 years. Tina is an Aquarius and is all about having fun! She’s a blast to be around, but let’s face it, she’s not the most organized or focused person I know. She came by one afternoon and I was in awe of the person sitting in front of me. She was unusually calm, put together, organized, and was spouting statistics and facts off the top of her head that were making my head spin. I sat across from her taking all this in and finally had to ask, “Who the heck are you, and what did you do with my friend Tina?” She laughed and admitted that she had been feeling like the best version of herself since she had been taking a new CBD supplement farmed, bottled and distributed by Young Living! “What?! Since when do we grow CBD?” I asked.

Flash forward one month….I'm beginning my forth week of using Nature’s Ultra CBD oil and loving the changes I've seen in my own life. My anxiety is gone, and now I can see how truly crippling it was to my productivity. I have the mental focus to know what needs to be done, the confidence to do it, and the clarity to get it done. My tendency to procrastinate is gone. I have also noticed I feel more satiated throughout the day. I feel happier than I have in years. The oils have a very mild flavor (Cool Mint, Citrus, or Cinnamon, your choice) which is courtesy of the organic essential oils they are blended with and they don't smell like dirt or taste like soil. The product is 100% certified organic, American grown, #NonGMO#Vegan#GlutenFree, and third party tested to be 100% THC free- it won't have any psychoactive effects, wont get you high, and wont show up on a drug test. Due to the third party 0% THC guarantee, it's even safe for United States Service Members.

The recommended daily dose is 1ml dropper full. In the 500mg bottle, each 1ml daily serving contains approximately 16.66mg of CBD. This is perfect for those of us who don’t partake in marijuana on a usual basis, have no chronic dis-ease in our bodies, and live a pretty toxin-free lifestyle. The 1,000mg bottle, each 1ml daily serving contains approximately 33.33mg of CBD. The 1,000mg oil is better for those who have built up a tolerance for marijuana products, have chronic dis-ease and dis-order in their lives and bodies, or who life or work in chemical-laden environments.

P.S. Shout out to Nature’s Ultra for their plastic free packaging and shipping practices! It’s so nice to see a company that respects our Earth, and every little bit helps.

CBD is amazing on its own, but add Young Living essential oils to the mix and it reaches a whole new level. Let’s go over some of the basics of CBD, such as the Endocannabinoid System and the different types of CBD available on the market.

Please keep in mind that I am not a doctor of any kind, nor am I a scientist, or chemist. I am not prescribing or advising in any professional capacity. I am seeking to share the knowledge that I have personally obtained through my own journey. I strongly encourage you to continue to read and research for yourself. All of this information is readily available on the web.

The Endocannabinoid System
The Endocannabinoid System is a biological, molecular system responsible for regulating and balancing many processes in the body, including immune response, communication between cells, appetite and metabolism, memory, and more.
The ECS is linked to your central nervous and peripheral nervous system, to help the body maintain homeostasis.
In a general sense, homeostasis refers to stability or balance in a system. It is the body's attempt to maintain a constant internal environment. Maintaining a stable internal environment requires constant monitoring and adjustments as conditions change.
If the body gets out of homeostasis, the ECS sends out natural endocannabinoids and enzymes to regulate the body and bring it back into homeostasis. For example:

     •       When you get too hot, your ECS kicks into gear and you start to sweat to bring your body temperature down.
        •       If you get too cold, you shiver.
        •       When you get hungry, your stomach growls.
        •       When you get tired, you yawn.
CBD primarily interacts with the ECS making it a highly sought after product through Young Living.

Take a second to think about your own body, do you feel like you are in homeostasis? How well does your body recognize when it is out of balance? Does your body do a good job of bringing you back to homeostasis, or do you currently experience life in less than ideal condition?

THC vs. CBD
Let’s take a moment to look at the difference between THC and CBD in regards to the cannabinoid receptors. There are two cannabinoid receptors throughout our bodies: CB1 and CB2.
CB1 receptors are in the central nervous system (brain and nerves of the spinal cord).
CB2 receptors are found all over the body in the peripheral nervous system (nerves in your extremities), the digestive system, and specialized cells in the immune system.

THC acts on both CB1 and CB2 receptors. When they attach to CB1 in the brain, it causes the intoxicating effects that are experienced with hashish, cannabis, and marijuana. It also affects the peripheral nervous system when it attaches to CB2, which is why some smoke marijuana to feel calmer or to decrease pain. It’s also why cancer patients receiving chemotherapy are prescribed medical marijuana; the effects on the digestive system help prevent nausea.
It is important to note that exposure to THC does have its risks, it is still illegal under federal law, and will cause you to fail a drug test. Some people are genetically more sensitive to THC as well, and do not appreciate the feeling of “getting high”. Luckily I’m about to share with you how you can get high quality, potent CBD benefits without the THC!
CBD does not bind directly to either the CB1 or CB2 receptors, but instead impacts them indirectly by modifying the receptors' ability to bind to cannabinoids. These indirect actions include activating another receptor called TRPV1 which is an intrical part in the endocannabinoid system.
If you want a CBD isolate, then Nature’s Ultra through Young Living is one hell of a product and I highly recommend it for even more reasons…keep reading!

FULL Spectrum CBD vs. Isolate of CBD

The hemp plant acts as a cleanser for the soil: it absorbs many nutrients and toxins present in the soil (including pesticides, insecticides and growth nutrients if the crop is not organically grown), yuck! Here's a mini breakdown of what I learned: In a typical "full-spectrum" CBD oil all of what's been absorbed by the plant is also present in the oil, and going into your body. On the other hand, a CBD oil "isolate" doesn't have it's "brother and sister" building block constituents which help activate the healing properties of the cannabidiol (CBD), so your CBD loses effectiveness. If only there were a happy medium... 🤔 Insert Nature’s Ultra ”Smart Spectrum” CBD oil, which contains CBD oil isolate (clean, no contaminants from the soil), carefully blended with other phyto-cannabinoids (CBD molecules that exist naturally in plants) to create a complex plant-based activation so you receive the maximum benefit of your CBD oil. It feels like getting the effects of the CBD oil amplified many times over, every time you take it.

When extracting a full-spectrum CBD, the whole hemp plant is used. It is distilled and then extracted, creating a full-spectrum product that contains everything: CBD, THC, plant esters, flavonoids, and terpenes, all together in a liquid form.
While full-spectrum CBD is thought to be more effective due to the unique harmony of all the parts of the plant, it is harder to regulate the exact composition of the cannabinoid profile.
Also, since this product contains THC compounds, it becomes difficult to then you will want to avoid a full-spectrum CBD. Full-spectrum is not ideal for pregnant or nursing moms.
Lucky for you, there is an even better option!

CBD Isolate
An isolate is the purest form of a compound, therefore a CBD isolate is the purest form of the CBD. A CBD isolate is made by taking a full-spectrum product and then using supercritical CO2 extraction to break it down to 100% CBD. Since the only component is CBD, you know exactly what is in it (and what isn’t: THC, terpenes, all those particles from the soil, etc).
There is 0% THC in a CBD isolate. This can be beneficial if you are extra sensitive to THC or any other compounds found in a full-spectrum product. This is a safer option for nursing and pregnant moms, and great for anyone wanting to get the benefits of CBD while still being able to pass a drug test.

So, is CBD Isolate the best option?
In the process of converting a full-spectrum product to a CBD isolate, the terpenes are removed. Terpenes are actually incredibly beneficial so having them removed changes things. Terpenes are important parts of the cannabis plant, and they help activate the CBD isolate and make it work effectively in our bodies. By adding Young Living essential oils to Nature's Ultra CBD products, we replace the boosting effects of the naturally existing terpenes with other phyto-cannabinoids (CBD molecules that exist naturally in plants), and the product is no longer truly an isolate but a smart spectrum CBD product. This provides the best way to control purity and efficiency.

Pure essential oils are blended with the best part of the cannabis plant to offer a wonderfully potent blend that is the best nature has to offer, that’s why Nature’s Ultra is my choice for CBD.
